John Mellencamp brings the 60's icon Donovan on stage to join him in his classic hit Pink Houses on his 2005 tour on opening night in Savannah, Georgia at the Civic Center
Mellencamp IS America. From the 80's, & forever onwards, he's been a uniquely American voice in music. Nothing brings the goose bumps more than a Mellencamp song. God Bless the USA! Thanx, u Lil' Bastard!
As a Canadian in Toronto, I can tell you his music has resonated with me for 25 years. It transcends the borders easily. he is a brilliant songwriter, great performer and as a musical arranger has few peers. Love going to see JM!
Just in case Mr. Mellencamp peruses YouTube, I want to be the first to say to him and his ardent fan base that Georgia, specifically, Savannah, has adopted this great Mid-Western rock artist. He is a true American original. He's been to our fair city multiple times, and if I'm not mistaken, recorded a video here.
Personally, my favorite is Jack & Diane. Common everyday heroes - the backbone of America - you can hear it in every song.
