@mandryitera You are completely wright ! I have 'For Musicians Only' but also the album of Clifford Brown; 'In Memorial Clifford Brown'. also one of the best albums of Louis Armstrong: 'Armstrong plays WC Handy'..great album, inspired me to Bebop..so funny, but thanks to Louis Armstrong!! During my visit to New Orleans I visited the Louis Armstrong Park..in the park I 'bumped up' to an amazing big stattue of Louis Armstrong,I cried and said: 'thank you for bringing me your great music....'

@1979saxman May be, but I don't like his attitude. Stitt was the most combative player in the business, always spoiling for a battle. There is the story of JATP musicians sitting on a bus, a long ride. Stitt unpacks his horn and walks up and down the aisle, playing all his licks. He then turns to Lester Young and asks: 'Hey, Prez, what do you say?' And Prez says lazily: 'Yeah, Lady Stitt, but can you sing me a song?' (Source: author Gene Lees)

mayurasana is so correct, it leaves nothing else to say!

Beyond words! Magnificient musicians bar none. And Dizzy is just incredible...

What about Clifford Brown? He must enter the conversation when discussing great trumpeters. They, of course, owe everything to Daniel Louis Armstrong THE trailblazer who made it all possible.
