And the hits just keep on coming. Many great songs from the album "Ultimate High" by the American Idol 7 contestant that finished 6th Carly Smithson. Carly was the focus of an article that appeared in February 2002 in the WALL STREET JOURNAL entitled "Pop Singer Fails to Strike a Chord Despite the Millions spent by MCA. The last paragraph of the rather lenghty article has a quote from Carly while she was preparing to return to Ireland. she said "This album is going to be huge, I won't stop until it is. Never give up on your dream. The wait may be over. Now that she's been eliminated I hope radio starts playing her music

Thanks for your comments. I just posted another song from Carly. It's always great to hear from a Carly fan and yes I also love "What I've Found" which in the days of 45 rpm's would be the flip side of her first single instead of track 2. When an album has this many good songs it's hard to pick a favorite. My Carly favorite? Whatever one I'm currently listening to.

reddfactory: I have to agree that Carly and David Cook, in my opinion, stood out far beyond the others because of the texture of their voices, tremendous vocal control and power, and versatility vocally. To me, the two of them should see much more success in the future.

This should be released as a single. This is the best I have heard her sound. Someone else in the thread mentioned the textures of her voice. I believe the texture of her voice is what separates her from the other Idol contestants. Same goes for David Cook.

I love when Carly has the rock/soul edge to her pop. I hope she keeps that vibe on her post-Idol record, but I'll buy whatever she puts out. Hopefully, she'll be huge in America after AI.
