Fallout 3 Fire Ant Nest Guardian strafe kill

Fire Ant Nest Guardian in the Queen's Ant Hatchery, Marigold Station, Grayditch.

Using V.A.T.S. wasn't an option for me in this situation. Due to my characters low level, available weapons, and the short length of the cave system. The fire ant would end up corning me with plenty health still remaining.

As the fire ant's don't have a melee attack, you can remain at close quarters provided you stay out of direct line of sight, to avoid the flame attack.

With this method I opened with a V.A.T.S. leg shot to try and reduce the ants rotation speed. Then continue to fire in real time until action points regenerate. Then use V.A.T.S. to make my shots count.

The remaining four fire ants can be lured to the same position, or strafe around them in the narrow tunnels.

In subway dead down to the platforms and take the south most tunnel. Go as far southeast as the tunnel allows, and you will find a closed door along the tunnel wall. Behind it is the missing scientist, and a further tunnel leading to nest.
