Thom Hartmann discusses how he feels the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to strike down Montana's ban on corporate political contributions is even more important than the Airzona immigration decision.

Do they even have the ability to screen those ads? I've seen that same ad on a number of liberal news channels.

One pundit (sorry, can't remember which) enlarged on Thom's story about the senate refusing to seat Sen. Clark in 1899. He said that the other senators were enraged, not at Clark's buying state legislators' votes, but at the hugely inflationary amounts he spent (they themselves paid an average of only $300 or so for each legislator's vote, not $10,000).

Hartmann makes two fundamental errors. 1) A corporation is not property. It's not buildings, desks, chairs, computers, paper clips, etc. A corporation is a legal union of people. The Citizens United decision said that people don't lose rights because they are part of a corporation. 2) The money didn't corrupt the politicians. The politicians were already corrupt.

The dogmatic right has a stranglehold on the supreme court. They wouldn't listen to arguments because then they would have had to admit new evidence in direct contradiction to the claims in the majority opinion of Citizen's United. This is a dangerous rogue court.
