Footage from the 'New France Old England' historical re-enactment group. Presented here is a selection of clips from both battles and camp life, featuring French and British colonial troops as well as Native American Iroquois tribesmen.

  • This would have been a great video if not for the Bl**dy idiot pointing his musket at the kids!!! I do try not to be disrespectful, but this is breaking a rule of priority and just is not done. Not only that but I don't see anyone pulling this chap up about it either! If he was a member of our group he would be gone so fast he feet wouldn't touch the ground!

  • @historicaltrekking Yeah, I did wonder about that years ago when I first saw the footage... surely the first rule of firearms is never to point them anywhere near people, loaded or not?

  • @ShroudFilm You are absolutely right. Do you know if this is the English group or not?

    Regards.

  • @historicaltrekking AFAIK the Iroquois were a German group. NFOE are English, portraying the French Colonials, but I reckon the guy with the rifle is Napoleonic Association, i.e. the main UK group.

  • @Haji0 I live in France and we don't study "New France"..

  • @historicaltrekking wow I honestly did not know that. I can't believe anyone would point a gun at someone.

  • @ryan84160 No Ryan, we use real working guns. In living history everything we use is real. Blades are sharp and guns really work.

    Regards.

  • @historicaltrekking You mean they do not use fake gun at events like this ? I just assumed they were something like cap guns.

  • @ryan84160 "Why?" Why am I upset to see someone pointing a gun at a child? Because it is rule number one, never point a gun at anyone unless you intend to use it, loaded or unloaded. It is a safety rule. Actually quite a few people have been killed because people have not obeyed this rule.

If this chap had been in our group he would be out so fast his feet would not touch the ground. No second chances.

  • @ShroudFilm Bummer, you would think they would know better. I think the Germans did a top rate job interpreting the Iroquois, apart from the chap with the musket the whole show was pretty good. I have watched a lot of USA reenactments on video, and none of them have been as realistic as this one.

    Regards.
