If you're like me, you're sick of Mr. Blurrycam and Mr. Shakycam teaming up and doing craptastic video reviews. That's where I come in. As a Best Buy and an Apple Employee, my reviews are informed, fair, crisp, and stable.

Today we'll look at Zagg's new product for iPad, the Zagg Mate- a keyboard and case duo that won an award at CES.

Rating: 4.5 stars out of 5
A sturdy, aestheticly pleasing, and innovative peripheral that transforms your iPad into a little MacBook while also providing rigid protection for your device.

Pros:
-fantastic quality
-seamless in design and integration with device
-maintains crisp Apple look

Cons:
-Keys a bit small but easy to get used to
-small ridge on outer keyboard area that could bother users with larger hands
-a bit pricey

Verdict: Definitely worth $100 and a must have for anyone unsatisfied with on-screen typing on their iPad, someone seeking a solid yet Apple-congruent form of protection for their device, or someone just wanting a more laptop-like experience with their iPad.

(note: The iPad only fits into the ZAGG mate with the screen facing inward)

  • If you are still wondering, you can check the original description so see that the iPad does NOT fit flush with the case while facing outward, as some referred to as "pure tablet form."

  • same here... are you able to place it flat, like when stored, but with screen facing out as in "pure tablet form"?

  • @osc3 Unforunately, the slightly curved back on the original iPad keeps it from resting snugly with the screen facing out, although it still does sit against the keyboard just fine... it just doesn't lock into place.

  • Great review, and as my school is switching to ipads to replace textbooks, I have been looking for a case with a keyboard that doesnt take away the tablet part of the ipad, which leads me to my question. is it possible to put the case on the ipad so that the back of the ipad faces the case? or would that mess with some of the buttons? again, great review. Thanks
