Seminole Crash 4 killed

Four teenagers are dead and one is seriously injured following an overnight car accident in Seminole.

The two-car accident took place around 11:15 p.m. Friday on 86th Avenue N near 141st Way in Seminole.

According to preliminary reports, a car driven by a 42-year-old man was driving westbound on 86th Avenue N. when the 2005 Lexus driven by 16-year-old Joseph Ruzecki was coming up behind him at a high rate of speed.

Investigators said that, when the first car stopped to make a left turn onto 141st Street N, the second car tried to pass on the left. The two cars collided, and the car with the teenagers hit a tree and burst into flames.

Five teenagers were inside of the car. Four of them were ejected. Only one of them - the driver - was wearing a seatbelt and was not thrown from the vehicle.

Ruzecki, Keith MacCollom, 17, and Nathan Richardson died at the scene of the accident.

LeShawn Smith, 16, died while en route to Sun Coast Hospital.

Corey LePore, 17, was taken to Bayfront Medical Center with serious injuries.

A spokesperson for Pinellas County Schools said all of the teenagers attended Seminole High School, with the exception of Smith, who was a student at Largo High School.

She said grief counselors will be at both schools on Monday.

The 42-year-old man was not injured in the accident.

The Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident.

@luverofredsox If you really knew him you would know that corey WASNT wearing a seatbelt. He flew out of the car and landed on the lawn of the neighboor, missing the explosion that killed nate joey and leshawn. This isnt a time to prove anyone wrong so quit starting shit. RIP boys.
