I think deleting comments is a strong indication that a person does not have a valid argument. People who are confident that they know what they are talking about don't have to delete comments because they don't have anything to be insecure about. If a person is comfortable with her own arguments then they are unaffected if someone else disagrees with them. The only person who would disrespect someone else by deleting their comments is a person who is unsure of their own stance on things.
