"Tears of Steel" was realized with crowd-funding by users of the open source 3D creation tool Blender. Target was to improve and test a complete open and free pipeline for visual effects in film - and to make a compelling sci-fi film in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
The film itself, and all raw material used for making it, have been released under the Creatieve Commons 3.0 Attribution license. Visit the tearsofsteel.org website to find out more about this, or to purchase the 4-DVD box with a lot of extras.

My understanding of the story:
- They're in a world where robots have taken over (#matrix #I,robot)
- That robot girl is something like the queen bee who after she got rejected, decided to vent her anger on the whole world
- A team tries to hack into her system to change her mind by changing her memory
If I'm right, I agree it wasn't set up well, bu it's a pretty ingenious (albeit a little soppy) way to save the world (love always prevails!), just hard to follow.

Didn't get it, but nice animation!
Did you use placeholder models for the humans or green screen for the background and Special FX?
