  • This version is better than the original.

  • Simone's voice is GORGOUS in this versioN! The new lyrics are just beautiful and this song really shows how much she's grown as a singer. Listening to her voice in this is purely a pleasure. Her voice is SO much better than it was even from The Devine Conspiracy. It's just getting stronger, better, and more beautiful with every song and every album. LOVE IT!

  • I like both versions of this song. Marks grunts makes Living A Lie sound rougher and more confrontating, while Simones voice seems to be flying and floating around, acting more upon the unconciousness and in such way having a very strong impact. At least, that's how I think about it. I do agree that this version sounds less harsh, without Marks grunts, but I also think Epica wouldn't be Epica anymore if there'd be no songs with Mark grunting anymore.

  • @tremapar Exactly - I hardly dared say so in case somebody shot me down. The problem is the 'lumbering Troll' factor as heard at 1.30,1.44, 2.21, 2.36 in this song (I'm nervous enough about crossing rickety bridges as it is ...).

I'm seeing them live in March and I just hope they don't reverse roles with Marc taking the lead and Simone doing the grunts ! I must admit - it would be amusing though ....

  • @jezkn i wouldn't say grunt free, but definitely prefer songs where it is not over used, like Our Destiny or this version of Living a Lie, over something like The Obsessive Devotion

  • nice version!! i like!!epica4ever!

  • I'm going to declare myself on the grunt free, non brutalised wing of the Epica debate (atleast for this song) but I wouldn't want them completely censured (- they make me laugh ... and Simone too)

  • @jezkn oodles

  • And it can only get better still. She's got oodles of potential and she is yet very young. I dont think there is a limit to how could she could get from what I've heard so far. When is she going to do that duet with the Pope? Do you know?

  • The orginal version is better than this!!!

  • I can hear Mark's voice in chorus.

And I don't like this version. I like Simone very much but she is dreadful without Mark.

    Also without Epica.
