"Gay-Bashed By Police"

This segment features civil rights attorney Dana Kurtz. She represents 3 women attacked and brutally beaten by an off-duty police officer. This hate crime occurred after the gay pride parade on June 24, 2007. In a fit of road rage, a Chicago cop gay-bashed the women on I-55 just before the Damen exit. The assault has been covered up by the state police and a civil lawsuit is pending.

I have also been the victim of gay bashing, I was blackmailed by a straight white woman who was a drug addict and when I called 911 for help the police further victimized me and traumatized me. I dont want to go into details but I just wanted to say if you think that the police are going to protect LGBT people youre out of your mind, police are just as dangerous as other gay bashers.

@TheStrong32 1st off, not phobic,don't fear homos.2nd/worldwide AIDS stats are the skewed numbers & when you face the truth & acknowledge the fact that 68 percent of people with HIV reside in sub-Saharan Africa, maybe you'll get that.3rd the only stats relevant to me are from where I live. Displacing blame only makes you appear desperate & delusional.

Lastly, your vociferous pandering for acceptance has you seeing things as you want them to be rather then the way they actually are.

@WhiteFlowerLei76 I'm really sorry about your traumatic experience. When those who are supposed to protect us end up re-vitimzing us, it can lead to feelings of hopelesness. I don't know where you live, but I'm here in the center of homophobic rural Texas, and even here not all cops are homophobic. When we do encounter official oppression, the best thing to do is contact the ACLU or SPLC, and take legal action.

There you will find the statement, "At the beginning of the AIDS epidemic, gay men in many countries were frequently singled out for abuse as they were seen to be responsible for the spread of HIV...Homophobia continues to be a major barrier to ending the global AIDS epidemic." You--and homophobes like you--are part of the AIDS problem.

Second of all, are you seriously saying that all those women are being infected by gay men? That's just plain dumb.

Notice how you simply dismiss the international numbers out of hand and concentrate exclusively on the US numbers. Look again on the AVERT site, under Sex, Sexuality and Relationships.

According to AVERT dot org: Adult or adolescent males accounted for 75% of new HIV cases in the USA. The main transmission route among males was male-to-male sexual contact (74%), followed by heterosexual contact (14%) and dirty needles (8%).
