So sad the way he asks if he can go back and gets told no- he asks several times and she keeps on with this perverse experiment, as if proving animals can think and reason is a breakthrough.

You are aware that living thing can die of old age too, not only because of illness?....

@RamboBlades African Greys should be able to live up to 70 years. I must agree, that Alex was doing the best he could to please his master, but the constant stress may have been way too much for him. Parrots are like children and must be able to play and enjoy what they are doing. I suspect that Alex was not a happy bird, but because of his desire to make his master happy, pushed himself as far as he could go and it was too much for him.

AMEN tornado!! My sentiments exactly!!! I never said he wasn't a smart bird because they are VERY bright!! But they DO have the capacity to live even up to 100 year's old!! Getting a parrot is a life long commitment and I appreciate the science of Alex's owner but in my opinion that is ALL Alex was. A science experiment!! I can't say what was learned from Alex didn't benefit anyone, I'm just saying it's sad to have learned WHATEVER benefits by using Alex as a source!
