  • I notice a lot of people saying bad stuff about this guy and making stupid comparisons, through other 'survival' videos uploaded elsewhere. This is my first time watching Ray Mears. So far, I like his show a lot---and for the first time to be watching his show, and the episodes having to do with Robert Rogers---that's a plus!

  • Not that they had much choice 'back then'...but bears must have been attacking people left & right, because of carrying stuff like bacon around on them. Talk about giving your position away too. Not much you could do about the type of food you could carry back then though.

  • @MrBushLife God speed.

  • @bnsaints thumbs up...good exchange...all the best in your prepping/surviving/ and good life living. Cheers ;-))

  • @ I certainly understand that, I saw so many Red haired freckle faced "indians" who are in the Casino industry or claiming natural resource rights it makes me sick. To me unless you are at least a quarter heritage within a generation then you claiming any kind of "indian" street cred is ridiculous. That being said, I come from the area that Mears was discussing in this video. I think hollywood has done a disservice to the Eastern Woodland Indians, as nobody knows of them. So this vid is good.

  • @MrBushLife yes there is a misleading , dishonesty . But in the end, I ask myself. Does it matter , most of my ppl , here in the N.Canada Bush, are unconcerned about survival in the bush..just staying alive, battling addictions, takes priority over , One family or one persons, attempts of misrepresenting a ppl. I have much greater things to focus on, and that is, keeping our Youth, children alive, not from the weather, but from the addictions. Meegwetch. MinaDenMowin =Respect. :-))

  • @bnsaints Fair enough. Off topic, now, I have many many decades of witnessing 'Non-Natives" Stealing, exploiting, Borrowing..lol..our native ways. But I woke up to the fact, that if we, as a people, are going to "SURVIVE" on this planet, this ancient Traditional practice of using anothers survival technique in their territory, transcends our personal feelings. Besides, I am soo tired, of feeling/ being "sick" at the expense of another HUMAN seeking validation on identity...

  • @MrBushLife I have more tolerance for this Bruchac than his brother or his father. Fine he is correct (according ) to you. My knowledge base deals more with the Iroquois so I would not know. I was just stating how I'm sick of these "phony Indians" milking a heritage they either don't have or just barley have, like this guy and his brother and father.

  • @MrBushLife Once you get the coal sparked..you take yer handful of grass, or fire material, press it , on your embers, adn blow, voila, you have fire!! place that into your fire setup. close the tin, smother the ember, and use it many many many times..LOl..cheers

  • @PseudoHuman16 here up in the northern canadian woods, we older NDns still use this method. But instead of a Fire bag, we now use Tin boxes (Altoid cans)..filled with a Charred piece from our fires, and everytime we need the fire, it is there, with our flints. This is a True tinder box..not like these new ones , filled with cotton balls, and various fueled up materials. meegwetch. :-))
