Crash Craddock (not Billy back then) ,a sensation in Australia in the early 1960s , Boom Boom baby was a number 1 Australian smash hit in 1960 , at number 1 for 4 weeks . Crash had 3 other top 10 hits in Australia.
He had no Idea that he was a big hit in Australia , when he came to tour he was surprised at the hoards of fans there to greet him .
He had no big hits in the US at that time , but later had a successful country music career .

I was a kid but I recall mum and dad saying He was paid to go away so as not to be a threat to Elvis, I think it was 5 years, when he came back he was no longer a threat.
We hated that because we thought he was cute !

"Brian Henderson " featured this clip on Aust. Bandstand ,his bulky jumper was a big hit too.This clip was what made him known in Australia.
