Wow, an amazing ploy by pro hairdressers trying to feather their nests at the ridiculous expense of the working class woman. Seriously, before you had 30 years under your belt, you sucked, right? The truth IS that if you have an average IQ or above, and fairly healthy hair to begin with and you are only interested in a single color process, you CAN successfully color at home and save yourself big $! It's like saying only a chef can cook a great meal....WRONG!!

Not really. There is a reason we have a license for what we do. You don't need to be licensed to cook. The average box dye contains developers with 40 volume peroxide. Why on earth would anyone with "healthy hair and an average IQ or above" want to subject thier hair to that kind of damage? Not to mention box dyes are loaded with toxic chemicals that many professional color lines do not contain. Truth is, a working class woman can go to the salon an get her hair done at an affordable price.

2 funny. Just checked the website and it's sponsored by Goldwell. That's the colour line my Salon uses.

Ridiculous expense? We do the most important job in the world, make people look and feel great about themselves. How can you get that from a box? Most of my clients come for the Ministry of love we shower upon them. The hair is secondary. Most hairdressers with a clientele will agree with me. It's really not even about the hair. And yes, until I had been a colorist for 20 years, I sucked. So, sucking as a professional for 20 years, what odds does that really give you for doing it good at home?

I was looking for a video on highlighting and ran across this. Although it is amusing, it goes to the extreme with the fear tactics and the bad acting, lol. If every at home color experience was a disaster, Clariol, Revlon and L'Oreal would be out of business. My cousin is a hairdresser and she sees no problem with my 6W tresses out of a $4 box. In fact, i get compliments on my hair all the time. I am a daycare worker and can't afford the cost of a salon - thank goodness I have options!
