I lived in the LA area in the 80s,Union 76 still had 98 octane leaded gas.My 67 ford with a 390 engine loved it.

If this ad is from 1970, it could very well be one of the first ads for which Union 76 (as most of us prefer to know the company as) had used its "Spirit" slogan. Previously, they used the older jingle "The Sign of the 76."

Times have changed! Today many stations even charge for air!!

Union 76 commercials, remind me of watching the Dodgers back in the day, those and farmer john ones. lol

The music in this ad was an excerpt of "76 Trombones", from The Music Man. Meridith Wilson wrote it.

Actually, the actor driving the car is the late Dick Yarmey. He was the brother of Get Smart star Don Adams (real name Donald James Yarmey).
I miss the old gas stations.Sometimes you'd get a free map with a fillup,a coffee cup or some trinket. The guy would wash your windows, check your oil & tire pressure.Plus gasoline didn't cost you a weeks pay.
