Traditional Latin Mass filmed on Easter Sunday in 1941 at Our Lady of Sorrows church in Chicago. The film presents the ceremonies of the Missa Solemnis or Solemn High Mass in full detail with narration by then-Mgr. Fulton J. Sheen. Celebrated by Rev. J. R. Keane of the Order of Servites (hence the white habits and cowls), the ceremonies are accompanied by a full polyphonic choir, orchestra, and fifty Gregorian Chanters.

The attention to detail in the ceremonies is impressive. Notice, for example, how the servers and ministers always take great care to move in order. Notice too that the servers are all almost identical in height. The Ordinary of the Mass, composed by Rev. Edwin V. Hoover, while pleasant in places, is very much a reflection of its time. The Proper on the other hand is timeless and sung admirably by a healthy throng of Seminarians from Mundelein, Illinois.

Unfortunately due to size restrictions at Youtube around 20 mins have been cut from the original, however, I hope to upload a full version somewhere soon. In addition to the cuts I have added new captions and edited the opening credits which had deteriorated in the original. Other than this the film remains largely unchanged. Apologies for the error in the captions for the two parts of the Mass (software). The first part is of couse the Mass of the Catechumens, the second is the Mass of the Faithful.

    I'll give you a hint:

St. Ignatius of Antioch, Epistle to the Smyrnaeans, [speaking of Heretics] Chapter 7, 110 A.D.- “They abstain from the Eucharist and from prayer, because they confess not the Eucharist to be the flesh of our Savior Jesus Christ, which suffered for our sins, and which the Father, of His goodness, raised up again.”

I have found that since the time of Pope John Paul II, we have only gotten closer to this beautiful form of mass. He wrote about it giving permission for it to be practiced, and so did Benedict XVI to an even greater extent. I hope and pray that the new pope will revert back to the ways of the church before Vatican II, making the rite of mass in a universal language, and bringing back the reverent chants that once rang through churches around the world.

The Apostles are in the Bible so I have no problem with them.

    Acts 8:36-37

And as they went on [their] way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, [here is] water; WHAT DOTH HINDER ME TO BE BAPTIZED? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

You must believe that Jesus is the Son of God to be baptized. Babies can't do that. Churches are built on scripture.

You're not angering me. I've heard worse from other users, one of which told me in response to defending devotion to Mary "you work for the enemy"

I believe I am born again in baptism, and I do need the Bible, of course, but you need the authority of the Church. Jesus did say he who rejects you (the Apostles) rejects me, whatever they bind on earth would be bound in Heaven and loosed likewise, and Paul tells us to stand firm to the traditions he gave us, either BY WORD OF MOUTH OR LETTER (2 Thess 2:15) and that the Church is the pillar and bull work of the truth (1 Tim 3:15). And you need an infallible church to determine whatis canonical.

No, and I hope I am not angering you, but I must be honest. It would be like if I hade DNA evidence that a man raped a woman but I set it aside just for a second, not forever, but just for a second to hear what someone heard throught he grape vine. Go with the sure thing you can't lose, everything else is a gamble.

I'm not trying to disrespect you or Ignatius. I only use the Bible as my authority. Here is my biblical justificaiton for my position.

    1 John 2:27

But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, AND YE NEED NOT THAT ANY MAN TEACH YOU: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

Once you're born again all you need is a Bible.

Alright, fine. I didn't say it was the absolute and final authority though, I said it was helpful. Wouldn't it be helpful if we wanted to prove that all the original Christians believed that our Lord was both truly God and truly man?

The early Christians are not authoritative, only the bible. Remember there was false doctrine by earlier Christians IN THE BIBLE. Paul is constantly straightening them out in Galatians, and Hebrews, and Corinthians. Only Use scripture because Jesus is the word made flesh not the early accounts of Christians made flesh. The Cannon is God's perfect word.

I understand. but Jesus gives us a physical object and says THIS IS MY BODY, likewise, MY BLOOD. He's not saying his words are food, He's saying the OBJECTS are food, and in John 6 we must eat His Flesh and drink His Blood.

In one of the videos that I had submitted as a comment, to metaphorically eat somebody's flesh and drink their blood was to slander and villify them.

I point out the early Christians to say these are what the original followers thought. Shouldn't that help us?

Job 23:12 Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.

I hope you're honest when I show you these scriptures. God's word is food. Justin Martyr is not scripture. I am not going to bash Justin Martyr but when understanding the Bible we must stick to the Bible.
