This is MAME video capture test using Lock 'n' Chase.

Lock 'n Chase was a charming PacMan clone released by Data East (DECO) in 1981.

The player controls a thief called "Lupin" who must steal all the coins in a bank vault while being pursued by the security guards ("Super Ds"). Lupin can only escape after all of the coins have been collected.

Money bags worth 500 - 4000 points appear in the centre of the screen whenever certain numbers of coins are collected. Level specific items also appear. The player can block passages with "locks". If the player manages to trap Super Ds between two locks he will be awarded between 100 points (for one) and 4000 points (for all four).

  • @baby13sc Interestingly enough, the fact the video was squashed the way it was makes it easier to compare the original Lock 'n Chase to the Itellivision version of the game, and shows what a good job the folks at Mattel actually did at porting the game to their first generation console.

gotcha, figured something of the sort because the sound is definitely the same. all the others uploaded are different, on different consoles. that fart sound when the car pulls up lol

    peace

  • @baby13sc The video was recorded using MAME. That means it was using the data from the original game. The video is distorted. It is squashed vertically for some unknown reason. It is supposed to be taller than it is wide instead of the other way around. Otherwise it would match your arcade cab version perfectly.

  • my brother has the original arcade cabinet of this game. wish i knew how much it is worth. anyway, i've been looking though all the lock n chase videos on here, and this one is the closest one to the arcade. exact same sounds, and the car pulls up the same. still seems slightly different with the cops' appearance, but may be due to how old our arcade is. my brother cracked a patter to get as far as the diamond(? i think its the diamond) level. me and my nephew played this last night :)
