This is the best how to over clock video I've seen. Not only did it help get the stupid floppy error fixed, but it showed how to OC you CPU, Memory step by step. Great Job my friend. It has helped me learn the whole process. Core 2 E8500 3.16 over clocked to 4.3 @50 c full load, 24/7 staple.

only i like the song, lool

@datboyquincy sounds like you have a gen 1 phenom its not going to oc much higher , push the voltage to 1.4 and see what it will do also add some volts to you nb

will getting a blue screen of death dmg ur cpu? cause im trying to oc my cpu and i got the bluescreen of death like 20 times... lol
my E8500 voltage never goes above 1.38v not matter what voltage i set it at. dunno why but its quite annoying.... cuz it wont let me oc it any more becuz of it.

Thats odd. Have you tried a BIOS update?

What kind of ram are you using DDR3? is that why your timings are so high
travism91 2 years ago
Yup. I got it when i had just come out so the timings were pretty high. vs higher cost ram

Hi
I have qx9650 and thought(and read) that 1.39 was the highest SAFE voltage for these CPUs as any higher would cause severe damage to the processor . I have mine at 4gig on 1.32 volts even though it says 1.6 or something in BIOS!

Depending on your motherboard and bios settings you more than likely wont ever see the same voltage in the bios than you would see in windows. If you have speedstep and power saving options your cpu will automatically lower the clock and voltage. This is just a demonstration for how to OC. You can take the CPU as high as you can as long as you have enough cooling but youll eventually start to see degradation and cut the lifespan of your proccessor. THis was just a max OC test.
