  • @FreedomInAmerica You're also confusing marijuana with opium, which are not the same thing. Opium and poppies are used to create heroin, which is highly addictive, a quality pot does not share, and has many serious health risks associated with use, another quality pot does not share.

  • @FreedomInAmerica The same could be said of alcohol and most prescription pain medication's effect on learning and memory. Considering I'm more and more convinced that you're operating at a suboptimal intellectual level right now, there are bigger things to worry about than weed.

Also, really? Opium? How about isolationist policy, being conquered several times by Manchurians or Mongolians, and exploitation by militarily superior European powers?

  • @FreedomInAmerica Clearly you have no understanding of the effects of marijuana use. Usually, when people get high, they just sit there. Arguably, it's more harmless than alcohol. Both impair judgment and perception, but alcohol doesn't make people fatigued. You're ignoring the hundreds of thousands of shootings yearly correlated with alcohol use, and your correlation of "liberal" with "violent" is idiotic.

If you had to be clean for 2 years, alcohol alone would invalidate most adults.

  • @FreedomInAmerica Legalizing marijuana would cripple Mexican illegal drug cartels much in the same way that getting rid of prohibition reduced the power and influence--and most importantly, revenue--of the bootlegging racket (Capone mafia) in 1933. Even if the drug cartels kept control of the means of production and distribution, there would no longer be any motive to engage in the violent illegal behavior necessary to manage a drug smuggling operation.

  • @FreedomInAmerica Over 30,000 Americans every year are killed in car accidents, and yet you do not ban cars do you? YOU, don't like weed, okay fine whatever, no one is forcing you to smoke it, but what's wrong with legalizing it and giving people a choice? That is freedom, to have the ability to choose. Lot's of things (as humans) are bad for us e.g. alcohol, chocolate, salt, even cow's milk etc. Yet we would never think about banning these things would we?

Pot is classified as a narcotic, stimulant and hallucinogen. Research has shown that, in chronic users, marijuana's adverse impact on learning and memory can last for days or weeks after the acute effects of the drug wear off. As a result, someone who smokes marijuana every day may be functioning at a suboptimal intellectual level all of the time.

And research how opium led to the downfall of Imperial China.

The Arizona shooter, Jared Loughner was a left-wing pothead. In order for a true mental illness to be diagnosed one must be clean for two years for brain chemistry to normalize enough for a proper diagnosis. The left is trying to blame it entirely on mental illness now that it has been established that he was a liberal. (see my About Me for link)

    .

At first the left not only blamed Palin & Beck for the shooting but campaigned to revoke Palin’s right to freedom of speech.

On 12 January 2011, the Mexican government unveiled a new database giving a total of 34,612 people killed over the past four years. This total included suspected drug gang members, members of the security forces as those considered innocent bystanders

    .

We're mourning the loss of six in Az shooting. Just imagine if that crap crossed the border.
