Neil Simon's 'Murder by Death' Deleted Scene #4 of 4 not seen on the DVD!

Please excuse the quality, this was taken from a VHS tape from the '80s.

  • I beleieve there is one other scene that does not appear on the dvd - Jessica Marbles and Miss Withers discussing payment with their taxi driver.

  • Yes, this can be found as Deleted Scene #2. :)

I've only seen these 4 deleted scenes. Do you know if there are any more?

  • I've been looking for these clips too! They're awesome. Why the heck aren't these on the dvd, at least in the special features? I remember seeing the entire version on tv as a kid, then realized scenes were cut for the disc! That makes no sense! Anyway, thanks a ton for posting.

  • Sometimes, TV stations will cut content for broadcast (for time/content issues), while sometimes they will also add deleted scenes back into the movie (for time).

I read that this specific scene wasn't included on the DVD due to copyright issues with the Sherlock Holmes franchise, but who knows how true that is. :)

Do you know of any other scenes that I don't have, and that are also not on the DVD?

  • Do you know who played Holmes and Watson? (The Watson actor does a great Nigel Bruce.)

  • @Oppledeldoc According to the "Universal Sherlock Holmes" web site they are two little-known actors: Keith McConnell (Holmes) and Richard Peel (Watson).

  • It's really strange, but when I used to see this film when it aired on TV in the eighties, I swear they showed these scenes WITH the film. In fact, I recorded it off network television and these scenes WERE included. But when I bought the VHS, they were not there.

  • Awesome! Thanks for posting these... haven't seen the Holmes and Watson scene since I was 10 years old!

  • i love this movie, my favorite since i was a kid, i just watched it last night, didn't know there were deleted scenes though.

  • HMMM! Funny! I remember THIS SCENE when I was a kid and it first aired! WOW! Why did they cut it from the version that is out now?

  • @hurricanejbb And all the five detectives and their accomplices did was disable ALL traps and act as a headliner for the REAL mystery-solving hero to claim the victory. As for Twain's connection with Holmes, There IS none, Holmes is just famous in his own right, famous enough to be invited to dinner and a murder.

  • @theorganguy It not Rita, but Yeta, the Cook!

"I don't get it, pop. Why didn't you just tell them it was all a ripoff?"

"Let idiots find out for themselves. Drive, please."

  • Not to mention that (definitely) James Cromwell wasn't as well known as this was his film debut...I'm not sure about Richard Narita. As far as credits go...every other actor was well-established...they may not have been.

  • but why didnt they have the character wang with Keye Luke or Mako?
