Sky Warriors: The C-5 GALAXY

The gigantic C-5 Galaxy, with its tremendous payload capacity, provides the Air Mobility Command inter- theater airlift in support of United States national defense. The aircraft carries fully equipped combat ready military units to any point in the world on short notice then provide field support required to help sustain the fighting force. The C-5 is one of the largest aircraft in the world. It can carry outsize and over over sized cargo intercontinental ranges and can take off or land in relatively short distances. Ground crews can load and off load the C-5 simultaneously at the front and rear cargo openings.

i leave june 15th 2010 to become a C-5 Loadmaster. i'll be on an Aircrew at Dover AFB adn get to fly on one of these mammoths.

The C5 is one of my favorite aircraft. When you see it flying, you wonder how it stays in the air, because of its massive size - you ever see one take off? WOW. 5/5 stars.

I remember a story of a Cessna (or some other small craft, preeetty sure it was a Cessna...) waiting for clearance at the beginning of the runway. A C-5 next in line taxied up a bit too close.

The Cessna radioed the tower asking why the C-5 was getting so close, but before the tower could answer the C-5 pilot began opening the nose, and a deep voice over the radio said "I'M GONNA EAT YOU!"

@stormspinner1 Watched one at Mountain Hom AFB in Idaho come in from close range, they're freakin epic to watch in person and it really does make one wonder how that hulking beast can even get off the ground much less appear to be going so slow on landing...
