The invaders found it acceptable that a looting on this scale took place. :-(
Items are trickling back, but these are probably not the real valuable pieces. Since everything is listed, we may hope that dealers across the world keep an open eye and report when a new 'owner' tries to sell.
Btw, many of the treasures of the national library, which was destroyed by fire, are gone forever.
We all lost a part of our heritage.
