Red=life horse=riders vehicle, both are dependent on each other sword=word of God earth=sparsely populated area. The horse is eternal life, and it's rider is the Christians who used God's word to spread their message, this caused division and eventually civil war, leading to mass violence in the rural areas of the roman empire.

*Facepalm* oh you silly futurists. Red means blood in bible prophecy, and in the bible blood means life. A horse is symbolically the riders vehicle, the rider is dependent on the horse and vice versa. A sword means the word of God. The horse was eternal life, the rider was the Christians. Christianity caused division and civil war in Rome, and Christianity spread because of eternal life and through the word of God.
