Libya's El Beida 1125 kHz announcing frequencies (!!!) at 10.30 am Feb 22 2011 DorsetRadio.wmv

Libya's Radio (Libyan Jamahiryia Broadcasting Corporation) from El Beida, received and uploaded for the sake of people who can understand Arabic but cannot receive radio from where they are.
This transmission was captured in the morning of February 22, 2011 (10.30 UTC) using a radio close to Libya for clearer reception. Some announcement was made regarding frequencies (AM MW & kHz) about 1' 40" of the recording, always in Arabic as this is a Libyan domestic station.

@DorsetRadio: Thanks for your note. No, I only have a few words of Arabic but I work with colleagues who are fluent in it. If you post any more clips of these rebel broadcasts I will be happy to have them translated for you. Many congratulations for the fine DX. I hear that 1125 is off the air today, but 675 is still broadcasting.

The first presenter says: "From the slopes of the great Green Mountain... as we talk to you on these great waves, the waves of the Voice of Free Libya radio... our frequency is 1125 kHz... and we have been joined by our sister Benghazi, our beloved sister Radio Benghazi, on 675 kHz. This is the Voice of Free Libya, the voice of the grandsons of Umar al-Mukhtar [resistance leader during the Italian colonization of Libya."

They must have seized that station from yesterday, last night I could hear them being all excited and unlike their usual broadcast "etiquette".

Also there is something going on with their SW broadcast to Central and East Africa from Sabrata. They played a short extract in English and all of a sudden their English TX turned into (most probably) Swahili.

I have recorded and will be uploading these later on.

This is a broadcast from one of two MW transmitters believed to have been seized by anti-Gadiffi activists (the other one being Benghazi on 675 kHz). As heard on this clip, they identify as Voice of Free Libya or Radio Free Libya. Congratulations on getting such a clear recording of a station which may turn out to be quite short-lived!
