Lightning strike up close! Scotland County North Carolina 6-29-2010

While on a storm chase I captured a CG lightning strike up close in Scotland County near the Deercroft golf community between Aberdeen and Laurinburg North Carolina. Additionally this storm produced small hail and winds between 40-50mph at this location.

@sgtdarkness1 hahah it was loud for sure. Interestingly if you listen closely there is a strange sound just before the thunder (kind of like something popping or exploding). I wonder if it is a tree that was hit.

Yea, I did hear that. But I also noticed right where the lighting came from at the trees near the top of the vid, looked like they were shaking out of sequence with the wind. Think those were the trees that created the strike. Good one J.
