The "contempory" music world has ignored that opera is the combination of both the visual and the aural.
Especially in Bayreuth where the Wagner has disastrous scenery usually all in black looking like a refuse pit.
If it´s not visual then it is not an opera but an oratorio or a cantata. All experimennts are not successful ones.

All of your Ramaeau performances are great regarding the music. Unfortunately the French think that everything modern must be good simply because it wasn´t done before, and there are no criteria for standards as such.
