joy williams and john paul white work their magic on one of the defining songs from one of the best albums of the 90s - 'disarm' from the smashing pumpkins second album 'siamese dream'.

siamese dream was the album that put the smashing pumpkins on the map nationally, and detailed the internal struggles of front man billy corgan, including his battles with severe, suicidal depression.

once again, the civil wars bring their unique acoustic talent to bear on an iconic song, a song for which they share the same affinity.

I'm pretty certain they will perform together one day again. If what they created is unforgettable and exceptional (and it is.) to us, the public, then it sure as hell won't be something they can put behind just like that.

Regardless of what happens from now on, all of their covers along with barton hollow are exactly the perfect-edged pieces of the puzzle called 'great music'. So inspiring. And for that, thank you CW.

See, I completely disagree. I think the softer melody and more acoustic harmonies enhance the poignancy of the lyrics. The song literally is "disarming" you with its deceptive sweetness, while you can hear the clear longing in their voices. But then again, I'm not a fan of the Smashing Pumpkins, so... grain of salt.

you all must really be into the Civil Wars. i've heard some of their stuff and liked it. this time, i was looking for acoustic covers of this song specifically. they've managed to take all the balls out of this song and pussify it completely. they should apologize to billy corgan.
