Very well done. I have added the JT circuit to several of my flashlights but not a maglight, and not the way you did it so you can use it either way. Excellent idea and I am going to borrow your tube idea for my next one for sure.
Good stuff. I think you can extend the 6 hour run-time by making two mods. One, have a variable resistor to base of transistor so that you can TUNE brightness & hence current. Two, use a very very large inductance in your transformer. Perhaps the PVC pipe can be wound as the cool.
THAT was impressive!! Six hour run time on that flashlight with one AA! Well done. 5 stars. The straight conversion of a 3 watt light I have never seen done before. People all over will want the plans on your design.
