This is just a quick video of my joule thief battery pack. I can run a 3watt LED maglight from a single AA Baterry and joule thief.

  • Very well done. I have added the JT circuit to several of my flashlights but not a maglight, and not the way you did it so you can use it either way. Excellent idea and I am going to borrow your tube idea for my next one for sure.

    Very nice work.

  • not "cool" ... I mean "coil". typo

  • Good stuff. I think you can extend the 6 hour run-time by making two mods. One, have a variable resistor to base of transistor so that you can TUNE brightness & hence current. Two, use a very very large inductance in your transformer. Perhaps the PVC pipe can be wound as the cool.

  • Good work!

  • THAT was impressive!! Six hour run time on that flashlight with one AA! Well done. 5 stars. The straight conversion of a 3 watt light I have never seen done before. People all over will want the plans on your design.

  • Wow 5 stars! How long do you think it will run off of the AA?
