That's actually just a common myth for dogs. It is a fact for other species, such as birds, however. In fact, newborn dogs need to be inspected early for any kind of illness or birthing problem as soon as possible so they can be taken to a vet. Also, the more attention puppies get from their owners in the early stages of life, the calmer and happier the pet will be later in life.
