City-bred Dale yearns to go out West and see the place where her father made his fortune. Father, however, does not approve. So Dale dons boys clothes and hops a train going Texas-way, heading for the town of Dalrymple (named for Dale's family) and her family's ranch. The train is also carrying singer Roy Rogers, on a personal appearance trip, who is stopping at his old home town (the town that is named for Dale's family). Roy and Dale soon become involved in crooked gambler Sheldon Leonard's plot to falsify the local pony express race.
