  • holy shit! i cant believe you did that. i went to school w/ Brad at the time of that recording. i can sing back the solo note for note, but you are, well... how long did it take you to do that?

  • @stevebr551

thanks for the comment - i had a lot of fun transcribing and

learning to play this solo, which took about a month altogether,

although I was working on a lot of other stuff at the same

time - this solo was part of a project i undertook for my

masters degree called "Who could ask for anything more?:

Exploding the traditional harmonic boundaries of rhtyhm

changes" - have posted a bunch of other " out" rhythm

    changes solos as well

  • thanks to all for posting such nice comments - glad you've enjoyed the video

for the record, the audio file is 87% of original tempo - practicing at 100% was killing me, with sharp pains between the 4th and 5th fingers of my right hand, so i dropped the tempo and saved my career

    Congrats!!!!!

  • i was in school w/ Brad at the time of this gig. i saw how his style develpoed. first he sounded like wynton kelly, then keith, then he developed his own sound.

i'll tell you a secret, Brad got much of his style from his good friend peter berstein.

i can sing back this solo note for note, never tried to play it, im not that crazy!

  • all right! great job. Thanks. I'll show it to my students to inspire them in transcribing.

    keep up the great job!
