This is my take on the match. As soon as the bell rings he tries to pull guard on me but I force him to half instead. Then we both get into one battle, me trying to grab his head and him keeping his head as far away as humanly possible! He does a great job of pushing into my armpit too keep me away until he can sweep. From the bottom I immediately go into a Jeff Glover style 1/2 guard and he knows that if i can get my head under him he can be swept of submitted from there. Neither of us wants to let go but I pull off a serviceable sweep. From here I get overly concerned with defending a choke and I get swept. From the top he didn't go for the armbar that i was ready for. He pulled a great triangle on me instead. What makes this one interesting is that I have a better than average defense for that and when he pulled it on me I didn't do any of what i'd practiced. I didn't move to the side or rock back and use my legs to disengage it. one moments hesitation was all it took for it to sink in. That was a fun match and my first Blue Belt competition. I got second place. For my trouble I got a slick looking snakeskin scabbard sword that complements my gi quite nicely! I'm always looking for pointers so all constructive criticism is welcomed. Thanks! The song is "Cabaret Hoover" by Ben Charest
The music killed me!

Thanks, I like to dig deep in the crates for my music. My coach Marc Laimon let me put my MP3 player on at the gym exactly TWICE. LOL, and even then only for 2-3 songs. He didn't quite get the music I like to roll to. I have a a few songs I am considering for future highlight reels, stay tuned ;)

three effective sweeps in that match - the blind-side scissor sweep certainly caught you off guard. nice glover sweep on your part. i will not make mention of your gi, other than to say that it would have clashed with your pink belt - a good job you got promoted!

Thanks, I'm always working toward the black belt. Jeff Glover told me never to say I am working toward a Blue, Purple, or Brown. Always say "I'm working on my Black Belt!"
