A couple on vacation find themselves in a tight situation when playing with an oujia board. A http://straight8.net film from Lee Hardcastle. Shot in one take, no editing, no post production.
The thrash punk music featured in this video is by my old band Shit The Bed and is now available here

A ZOMBIE CLAYMATION (In HD and with edits/post effects)

NOTE ABOUT LAST SHOT:
Me and my girlfriend stayed in this big old house during last winter in a small french village. Isolated and feeling accomplished , I had a little bit of film left on my super8 cartridge - so I filmed that last shot in the back garden for memories sake.

  • So if I'm understanding this correctly, this is the original cut of your 'A ZOMBIE CLAYMATION'? Also, that the sound was recorded separately and blind based on the approximate time that had passed along the animation? Goodness, Mr. Hardcastle, you continue to amaze me. I have to imagine you storyboarded like mad on this in order to preserve my own sanity.

  • @Shiggedy yeah this is it, shot on camera & untouched. If you made a mistake, you couldn't re-shoot anything. You'll notice the sound slowly drifting out of sync towards the end. Shaun of the Dead dir. Edgar Wright made a Straight8, search for "Forced Hilarity straight8"

  • im not hating dont worry, but how is this not edited? like how are they moving and shit if its not edited...? actual question

  • @xocydneyox imagine you had a video camera with a 3 minute tape to record on. And, you had to make a film with it but all you were allowed to do was press "record" / "stop record" until you'd recorded over the whole tape.

THEN, imagine... you weren't allowed to see the results of what you recorded until it was shown in a cinema with an audience.

    That's "straight8"

  • @leehardcastle Amazing work!!!!... but i just can't figure when and how you recorded the audio for the movie.. i'm very curious..

  • @skumbino I recorded the audio first, then edited to an animatic for timing. Once complete, I animated the Super8 footage to the audio file.
