Here's a tip from the I-R-S. . .
Did you file a federal tax return last year? If not, you may have missed out on getting up to 600 dollars from the 2008 economic stimulus payment. The good news is you have a second chance this year. This "second chance" is called the recovery rebate credit. If you receive at least three-thousand dollars in earned income, social security, railroad retirement and/or veterans benefits, you may qualify. But, the only way you can get this credit is by filing a federal tax return. If you did file a tax return last year and got your stimulus payment, you won't qualify for this credit.
Be careful not to confuse this with the new 250-dollar payment that'll come from the Social Security Administration, Veterans Administration and Railroad Retirement Board later this year. The payment will be coming automatically from them, not us. Unlike last year, you don't need to file a tax return to get this check.

For more information on the Recovery Rebate Credit go to I-R-S-dot gov.
