A video about communication, specifically after total laryngectomy (surgical removal of the larynx). This video also highlights good communication skills and can be used in training for anyone working with the public. Produced by the South East Coast Laryngectomy groups: YakityYak in Brighton and Necks Best in Eastbourne / Hastings. Please feel free to complete the questionnaire on this video clip. • As someone who has their vocal chords but damaged hearing, this is very helpful to watch. Their have been times in my life where I have met people post surgery and had trouble understanding them at times. There were moments watching this video where I realized I was listening more intently because I was still having trouble, particularly the gentleman with long hair. The first tip is the best - accept difference - after that all the rest come easily. :)

  • How nicely done! I've been a laryngectomee for little over 14 years..I was amazed at the accent, So guess I still do have my Texasan sound. ha...Good to show new larynectomees..Thanks for making and posting. Betty

  • Good job! The three major speech methods were very well done. The people looked happy and sounded wonderfully adjusted. I wish I could meet you all. I've been a lary for almost 17 years and have worked hard for rehabilitation and we will be referring members to YouTube to see this. I live near the SE COAST but not the same one! I'm in the USA and will hope to meet you online! Pat
