Young Holt Unlimited - Soulful Strut
They did record some stylish and funky records (sometimes both at the same time), including their 1968 mega hit 'Soulful Strut' (aka the instrumental bed from Barbara Acklin's 'Am I the Same Girl') which is probably -- along with 'Green Onions' -- one of the best known soul instrumentals ever.

If I'm not mistaken this was a song made by the house/back-up band called "Pieces of Peace". Brunswick, their locally based label, didn't credit them but gave the track to Young Holt Unlimited because they were already established and YHU needed a new hit.
