  • R. Wyatt's work was unscientific and nonsensical. The work referred to here is no better. There is absolutely no truth or science to it, and no PhD archaeologist would give creedence to any such thing. It's sad to think that so many gullible people are taken in by this kind of idiocy. Tall el-Hammam is biblical Sodom, and all the geographical, archaeological, geological, climatological, and historical evidence supports this conclusion. Let's dispense with the nonsense and get on with science.

  • continuation...In fact, Ez 16 even states that Sodom, Samaria, and Jerusalem shall all be restored to their former fortunes. But, all in all, I'd say that a 600-year occupational hiatus (for the whold area) is a pretty good hit! Besides, Sodom and the other cities were never rebuilt. That civilization vanished. Again, hyperbolic language within a prophetic context cannot be used in the manner being suggested.

  • Problem is that, according to the Bible, Sodom remained uninhabited during the Iron Age:

Zep 2:9 "Therefore, as surely as I live," declares the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, "surely Moab will become like Sodom, the Ammonites like Gomorrah-- a place of weeds and salt pits, a wasteland forever. "

So, if this location has Iron Age habitations, built over Bronze age ruins, them either this isnt the Biblical Sodom, or the Bible is wrong about Sodoms fate. You cant have it both ways.

  • You can't take a metaphorical, poetic passage and make an historical-geographical point from it. Bad hermeneutics! The fact is, nowhere in the Bible does it ever say that Sodom, et al, would remain desolate forever. However, several warnings were given to Israel that they themselves might become like Sodom "forever."

  • Kudos! This is a long-awaited breakthrough in the practice of biblical archaeology, and illustrates the power of sound hermeneutics and applied scientific research. Dr. Collins has constructed a valid deductive argument, which soundly locates the "Cities of the Plain" in the southern Jordan Valley. His work is extremely compelling and it dovetails very well with my own fieldwork in the area. The southern hypothesis lacks internal logic, from chronology and occupation phases, to location.

  • Dr. Steve Collins, expert archeologist and Biblical scholar has done extensive research and with his excavations and pottery dating, has located the site of Sodom, northeast of the Dead Sea, on the disc-kikkar of the Jordan. The evidence is overwhelming and this is the greatest find of this century. The Bible is true, Sodom and Gomorrah are there.

The pottery, ash, melted stone, location all support this find. We can believe it.

  • @SODOMandSCIENCE Tisk, Tisk I say. I can't believe the (spiritually blind) arrogantly attack other peoples endeavors. I'm sure you're aware of the bamboozlement the religious community had to endure through from distorted "evolution" scammers. Just stick to the apes evolving into giraffes and such.

  • One problem, Those cities were turned into ash from the destruction. Where's the ash from the brimstone and fire that fell out of heaven.

  • This video is incorrect. Several lay claim to finding the location of the sister cities of Sodom and Gammorah. A Professional Phd Archeologist performed an excavation. He sent materials from the site for scientific testing. He showed many stones that encased a sulphur/brimstone ember. He dug beneath glazed earth, bone fragments were throughout. He had ionization patterns analyzed revealing a temp in excess of 5,000 deg F. His study was Independent of R. Wyatt, but validated same location.

  • Dr. Collins

Me and my friend waiting for you to continue the next season of this remarkable site, send me the papers soon,

    Khalil

  • I agree, a wonderful overview! But it is much more fun to actually be there, in Jordan, and dig and touch and be the part of the team. I've been there in 2009, Season 4 and now definitely will join TeHEP for Season 5! :))
