Just started string crossings with slur and I was lost until I saw your video....Super! Thank you!

hi do you have a video for ties because i got confused in that one. so in my book its like two notes and both of them are down so do you lift it up or just hold it longer.
-
Wow, that slur sounds beautiful. My violin teacher could only teach me the very basics and I'm pretty much trying to self-teach myself out of my violin book. This helped very much.

Do you have a video for Tie's I can't get to the next section of my violin practice book without learning how to do them.
-
prof.V, I can't see you fingger on the violin string, would you please shoot from above angel?

Vivaldi summer 3rd movement has this 2 slured notes in D and A string repeated for many times...so will this create a U movement in the bow?

Professor, I've been taking lessons for about a year and a half now, although I've played in a school orchestra for a little over 3 years and I was accepted into the California Youth Symphony for the 08-09 season. I'm currently working on Sarasate's Habanera and there's one section with slurred string crossings (A to E string). When I take it slow, my notes come out nice and even but once I start bumping up the tempo, they come out all choppy. How do I make my bow crossings more even?

looks easy... argh!

I really like these videos, but I have noticed that they take a very long time to load. I am not sure whether that's because of a problem on my end or what. However, other videos on YouTube do not give me the same problem. Is anyone else experiencing this? For example, it took several hours for one of the videos to load yesterday morning. (There's a lot of starting and stopping because it's not loading). Sorry to have to report that.
where have you been all our lives,i'm 42 and a beginner but it's so frustrating if you don't have a teacher in front of you...tnx much..by the way, what would be the proper tension for the hair of the bow?my bow keeps bouncing on stretches, tnx

Hi and thanks! I use a basic rule that the bow should be the width of a pencil in the very middle. Some bows require a little more tension if they are very soft, but bows become unstable if they are made too tight (plus, it's not good for the bow).

Great video- I'll refer my subscribers over, as I always do with your videos because they're so crystal clear. Thanks!
