Yamaha Phoenix drums demo by Steve Holmes

A quick video showing off the new Phoenix drums from Yamaha. I wanted to do a more "real world" sample, so an Edirol R-09 was used to record the playing portion.

It's a stack of a ZXT Trasher, and an Oriental splash I believe.

The cymbal above your hi-hat appears to have a few holes drilled into it. Do you have some sort of "preparation" on that thing? Screws and bolts in there, or something?

It's a Zildjian Azuka with Rivets. It's a nice china cymbal substitute without the sharp attack of a china.

Damn those DO sound good. Really nice playing too. That definitely helps. I'm surprised Yamaha didn't put out some kind of PHX snare. If they're working on that I'd love to find out more.

i dont get why people spend their money on such a expensive drum set when you can get almost the exact or even better sound with another nice kit, i prefer yamaha rock tour custom, from where i see it mine sounds way better, but i think its because of the tuning

These Drums are Killer. He's not exaggerating! Plus his Drumming Technics just pushes me more over the edge. Awesome Video! Great Work Steve!
