This is my Wenzel Starlite 3- season 1 man backpaking tent. It is made of 1.9 oz uerethane coated 600mm polyester. Which makes it very light weight. It features a zippered entrance with no-see-um mesh screen and a small no-see--um mesh screen at the foot for added ventalation. I have used this tent several times while backpacking and have been pleased so far. This is more of a begginer or low-budget backpackers tent. I found it on Amazon last year for about $20.00.

  • doesnt look 2 water proof but thats through the cameras lense in person might be diffrent..

  • yeah i can agree with you on that also. But I dont think this is a bad choice for a lowbudget hiker or a begginer. I would just advise using a poncho as a rainfly.

  • Thanx for the review that was quite informative and now I know I'd rather stick with my hammock for comfort.

  • lol yeah i prefer my hammock too. Thanks for the comment

  • Is this a freestanding tent? Like, if I'm in a place where I can't put stakes in, is the tent still going to hold up?

  • John, I have some experience with these inexpensive tents and have a few guidelines to making these waterproof. Because they're sold inexpensively, you can be garanteed they are NOT sealed enough for serious rain. Coglans sells 'seam-sealer' at a very reasonable price, ($4). Anywhere Coglans is sold. Seal ALL of the seams. All seams. Then spray top and bottom of entire tent with a silicon sealant. I use 'KIWI heavy duty water repellent'. (Walmart-4 about $5). Good for tents, shoes, canvas etc.

  • Well yeah it's worth $30. I took mine to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. Light enough to not bother me on the way in or out, but the weather down there is very stable, so it didn't really get a good workout once I put it up. Light enough, but depends on where you're gonna set it up.

  • is it worth its money cuz i might have to get one b4 the 15th ,please reply

  • Had one of these for years. Light, packs small, roomy enough. Easy to set up, rugged enough, cheap. $30. Pretty decent tent.

  • very good vidio, i learned alot, and i think im going to buy one know THANKS...

  • would you recommend the starlight or the lone elk?

  • Good review, thanks for the insight. and I agree, it's a two person tent only if you really, really like the other person, a lot!

  • this tent was my home for a whole week on the A.T. NJ. it kept me dry and kept the bugs out. really easy to use... really light.. i love it.. and at 25 bucks you can't beat that!.

the video says it's not a 2 person tent... my friend and i slept in it that whole week. i'm 6'1" 260 lbs.

    i recommend it..

    great video thought.
