I rendered out three Maya Fluid Effects 'flames' using Maxwell Render 2.5, applying a different type of substance to each one. 'Smoke', Milk and Glass. If you look closely, you may notice a slight problem with the milk simulation.... haha. The two on either end only needed 1 minute per frame, but the Milk uses SSS and took up to 6 minutes a frame, however the simulation issue may have been partly the cause of that!!

Created using Maya 2012 but the key is converting the fluid to polygons so that Maxwell can render it.

  • Hmm, Nice test. I wonder if we can use the same technique to render other things with maxwell, such as clouds or explosions....

  • Milk got bubbly lol
