Further re: the "prestige" of being a WCW/WWF unified champ, considering Vince owned WCW as just a brand name, he could technically have given Jericho the TV, US, cruiser, and IC titles too. Would it make him a global sextuple champ too? Apart from Lawler being unified champ, one could also cite Ultimo Dragon as the J-champ, being an octuple and later nontuple champ once he took the WCW cruiserweight title. Nine separate fed titles including for a short time both WWF and WCW cruiser belts.

@GrandFunker Eh, I wouldn't talk up Jericho holding 2 global titles. WCW at that time was just a brand name owned by the WWF, so Vince McMahon booking the guy to get the title isn't exactly the same thing as say, holding the NWA and AWA world titles back in the 70s or 80s. Anyways, the WWF and WCW (though I was a WCW fan) world titles were just promotion titles too by the 90s. They were closed companies whose credibility came from being nationally televised, not because of a global roster.

@libraking103 There is a dispute. The AWA was a regional promotion. I was always a fan, but it was regional. It mostly ran shows out of the Twin Cities region. Were they touring Europe? Japan? WCCW rarely left the State of Texas. Another great promotion, yet also regional. Neither survived when wrestling expanded beyond the territories. Lawler had those two belts, because Memphis wrestling was bigger than the other two at the time.

@GrandFunker at the time, Vince had bought WCW. Yeah I know that it was a global company. But AWA and WCCW were not under the same promoter back in the day like wwe & wcw. AWA & WCCW were 2 different companies under two different promoters. Jericho is the first undisputed champion in wwe history. But history shows Jerry Lawler is the first undisputed champion period.

so as you know now the 1st undisputed wrestling heavyweight champion is Jerry Lawler not Chris Jericho. Lawler held the AWA and WCCW Championship belt in the late 80's.
