  • Where do you find the coins

  • I metal detect in old places where there was turn of the century activity Ablahou

  • I suggest you never ever do what this man has done. Never put elbow grease in cleaning a coin. A coin is better off if you do not clean it. Old coins should be cleaned in accordance with coin manuals. For instance, lighter fluid sprayed on an old coin just to get off the grease, do not ever rub.

  • I agree (Never Clean a Valuable coin)..But to suggest lighter fluid ? NEVER...Rinse w/distilled water & pat Dry,a rare coin ! ! !.If you went to a coin shop...You could have purchased any one of these years of v or buffalo or v nickles for $1 each...Whether in uncleaned or after cleaned condition..If it is not a rare coin..And you are not planning to sell it,only display it..There is nothing wrong with cleaning it..the one I cleaned with barkeepers friend is only for my display,& not for sale..

  • I like you way you word the last of your video. "Please join me in part three as I screw up some valuable Indians & wheats.." ..lol... The nickels looked fine. Like you said, 24 - 30 hrs. max. Your videos are a very good learning tool for everyone, so "screw up those Wheats!' ..lol.. Thanks Dave!

  • LOL..........I tink I will be a little more carefull now........But I am sure I will go a little over-board in cleaning my I.H.'s & wheats LOL........Seems like I always Do..L.O.L.

  • You're the best!! I'm gonna look on ebay for a nice rock tumbler!

  • how rare are Buffalo Nickles?

  • Thanks for the video!!! I have wondered what a rock tumbler would do to that silver...they looked much better...and wondered how to make those V and Buffalo look better!!!

  • I found two old nickels this year...a 1916 Buffalo and an 1899 V-nickel. I tried ketchup on the V-nickel. It looked better but not great. I then threw it in the tumbler for at least 24 hours. The features look a little less sharp. But that nickel wasn't in great shape to begin with. I tried cleaning the Buffalo in the tumbler and it came out....ok...but looked like the tumbling process wore it down a bit. Both nickels have what I would describe as a grainy texture all over. Great Video!!

  • I'd be careful with those wheats and IH's. With my experience the wheats get real pitted and bumpy. I've never tumbled IH's I use a dry brush on those that works good.
