@mrhonkeytonker, Gallivan mentions that this was the Canadiens 20th powerplay goal of the playoffs. They only played 2 series in those days of 6 teams. There was a 15 year span after that cup in 65 where you did not want to take penalties against the Flying Frenchmen. I noticed the Mayor of Montreal Jean Drapeau(the guy with the stach wearing a fedora)giving his favorite team a standing o.

@jocolope Yup....Orr was a beautiful skater and his speed was deceptive ...untill he went by you

@Flipstazzz, its like the candy bars and junk food today. Smaller portions, taste shittier and cost a hell of lot more.
-
@mrhonkeytonker&stratovani, top end? don't forget Bob Gainey in his prime and I remember Orr catching the Roadrunner though he had the angle indeed.

One of the fastest players I ever saw, along with Bobby Hull, Mike Gartner, Gene Carr, and Pavel Bure.
-
I think Cournoyer was quicker off the line but Top end I gotta go with Hull !!!

The golden years of hockey..great!! Eric Nesterenko's cousin was my French teacher in high school. FWIW

Cournoyer could fly. He was one of the fastest skater in that era, with Orr. His shot was accurate, but not booming, like another person said, he was also gritty and fought for the puck. 400+ goals, 10 cups, and he mostly played the Powerplay in his first couple of years under Toe Blake.
Speed....speed!! The fastest player I ever saw.
Nice to hear the voice of Danny Gallivan. Compare Gallivan to the dreadful stuff we hear today!

Very fast player, but not only that, he was very gritty. Even though he was a little guy, he would usually win battles for the puck against much bigger players. Incredible heart.
