In this tutorial, you will learn how to make a synth similar to the one you might hear in "Not Exactly" by Deadmau5 and "Cookies With A Smile" by Dada Life. This sound in general is used a lot by Prog. and Electro House artists. Once again, I made this synth solely from scratch in NI Massive. Being able to hear a sound and recreate it just takes time and practice. Let me know if you have any suggestions or criticism or ANYTHING pertaining to the video!
Thanks!

  • so how to you control the cutoff in the song because you cant make a automation clip

  • @kopec2255

I like to record my automation live, by hitting record and clicking automation and score. Counts me off, and then i can automate however i want.

  • YOU SOUND SO FUCKING COOL

  • @MrRazor94

    Cool Story Bro.

  • Mine sounds very gritty, I cannot find out what it is.. all of it sounds good except Oscillator 1, but its exactly the same as yours.. any idea?

  • @HeroicHereticsHH3

There are so many things that could cause that, so honestly, I recommend just initializing the patch and starting over! usually the second time around you'll see something and nail it.

  • @kopec2255 you can make an automation clip, turn the knob or switch etc that you want to automate, then click the down arrow at the top left of the vst. click on browse parameters. the knob/swith you turned be scrolled to automatically, right click on it and automate :D

  • @kopec2255 I made a tutorial for that! :) /watch?v=81wXA9ncemk

  • @kopec2255 If you use Fruity Loops ( i don't know if this works in other Programms too ) you can place a macro and pull it all the way up at the cutt off then click on the left top corner of the Plugin on the arrow.

The Menu will pop out and down there is the Button "Make Editor Thumbnail"

If you do this on the left side the Browser opens and there are all instances of massive listed pick you sound and then you can make and automationclip of this Macro Knob which you ahve assigned ;)

  • i was singing cookies with a smile in my head listening to this...

  • @kopec2255 If you want to make an automation clip, you can move the cuttoff knob a bit, then go to "Tools>Last Tweaked>Create Automation clip"

  • @fbskier20 Yes, you can usually do that in FL aswell, but Massive doesn't communicate with FL for me. I mean I can open it inside and make tunes with it, but I can't make automations on controllers INSIDE massive :/

  • @channesw in ableton you can draw out your automations. idk about FL

  • @GudiBeats how can i stop massive from making that cracking noise bro

  • love the macros on there, awesome idea with it on what you put it on. never would have thought to put it on the EG level

  • you can make a automation clip. on the top right is an arrow pointing down, click on it. click link all parameters and then click browse all parameters. from there you should be able to create an automation clip regardless the synthesizer.
