@SpasticDove Pasos are different than other gaited horses. They are not taught the gait, it comes natural to them which is why it is smoother than a "Taught" Gait.
If you don't mind me asking, what exactly do you see that makes the rider and horse seem out of sync? they seem great to me, the horse is moving forward nicely and its ears are up.

Non-gaited horses are good. Gaited horses are better. Pasos are the best. Knifed in the mouth? What is that?

I'm really not a fan of gaited horses, but even so I can tell the horse seems happy and willing.
It's just a personal preferance. I don't think he will get Knifed in the mouth
