Ok, it's not a French organ, I know. As the Great Cornet (as well as the Swell one) doesn't go below middle C, I have used the Great Sesquialtera stop instead (with the Open and the Stopped Diapasons), accompanied by the Swell Stopped Diapason coupled down to the Choir Dulciana and Stopped Diapason; on the Pedal I've used a Stopped Diapason 16' coupled with Swell. I think it doesn't sound too bad, does it?

Instrument info: Built by George England in 1760, restored by William Drake in 2009, it presents some very interesting contaminations with the French late baroque Organ building school. The organ is located in Christ's Chapel, Dulwich.

  • Well, just because the English Sesquialtera is not quite like a French Cornet, and it sounds a tiny bit too aggressive, especially if you listen to it live.

Also some purists might have reservations, so I just wanted to be specific about my choice.

Anyway, thanks for your comment! :-)

  • It's very acceptable (for an english organist on an abnormal french organ) lol

If you understand french, you'll find further help by downloading for free "Tables des registrations" by Roland Lopez in .pdf file on the website "h t t p ://e-partitions.fr/partitions/Theorie/tables_de_registrations.pdf"

It is a compiling of french baroque organ composers instructions about the stop mixtures and movement natures used during the baroque period in France

Bravo and thank for you very good performance

  • Nothing wrong with this registration! Quite superb! Why the annotation?
