If my bird Bhanu had a list of interests, food would be in the top three.

All of them.

This video details some of his efforts to obtain it.

  • just F.Y.I, salt actually will shut down a birds internal organs even very small amounts over time. Just thought you should know.

  • @puuiki This is actually not true, in fact birds need some amount of salt in their diets to be healthy. While tropical birds such as my little Bhanu obviously lack the capacity to deal with salt as well as something like a seagull would, a small amount is still important to his health.

As in all things, moderation is key. There are foods, such as rhubarb, caffeine, alcohol, etc. which are a direct threat to a parrot's health in any amount. Salt is not one of them.

  • Your bird is a girl. Boys of her kind have big black mustaches. I had two until recently.

  • @Brizumker He grew up to be as mustached as any bird could hope. They aren't sexually dimorphic until about 2 I believe.

  • This Guy Does Not Care About His Birds Health !!! Letting A Parrot Eat Any Kind Of Chips Is Bad For There Health To Many Seasoning On Any Kind Of Chips !

  • @shyboyp I commend you for your pinkie's strength of character, but your concern is unwarranted. We only let him hold the chips for a few moments before taking them away. Tiny bits of chips are fine as long as he doesn't get them too often.

  • No, that's untrue. Many animals can actually see types of light that humans can't. Pit vipers, for example, are named after the heat-sensing pits on their heads which allow them to see infrared light. Hummingbirds, parrots and other birds are capable of seeing ultraviolet lights.

The question of intelligence isn't as clear-cut. As cliche as it sounds, there really are 'many different types of intelligence'. Assuming you mean critical-thinking type skills, it's still very hard [continued]
